Some workers are fashion designers who design the garments; pattern makers who draw and construct the patterns; assemblers, sewers, and pressers who put the textile pieces together to create the finished product; and retail salespeople who sell the finished products.

Textiles are an essential part of human life, providing both protection and a means for self-expression. They can be woven, knitted, or twined from a range of animal and vegetable fibers including cotton, silk, wool, ramie, and linen.
